I cooked and baked next to nothing last week. Between work and travel, there simply wasn’t time. Instead of dwelling on how much I hate that, let’s just skip those categories in this week’s newsletter and go straight to drinks. I’ve got plenty to say about booze.

I was in Portland, Maine, over the weekend for a good friend’s wedding, and the party itself was more like a short breather in the middle of two days of gluttony. (Not that there wasn’t also some gluttony there, too. The passed apps, especially, were elite, and my husband talked so enthusiastically about everything with the waitstaff that they started seeking him out with entire trays of goodies.)

Okay, a whole paragraph in the “to drink” section has passed, and I haven’t actually mentioned a drink. Let’s fix that.

… the Blueshine Lemonade from Maine Craft Distilling may be the best canned cocktail I’ve ever imbibed. It’s a little sweeter than what I usually go for, but what’s to not to like about blueberry lemonade. I’m about to put in an online order for a couple four-packs, and also maybe for a bottle of their blueberry liquor to try to make these at home.
